BCT Aviation Maintenance has strengthened its position at East Midlands Airport (EMA) with the signing of two new line maintenance contracts, reflecting the hub’s growing role in international cargo operations.
Chinese cargo carrier Central Airlines has appointed the MRO provider to deliver line maintenance support for its twice-weekly Boeing 777F services, operated on behalf of logistics firm YunExpress. Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services has also contracted BCT Aviation Maintenance to manage line maintenance for its Boeing 777F flights linking the UK and China over the summer.
Both airlines have signalled plans to increase flight frequency, underlining long-term commitments to EMA and bolstering the airport’s status as the UK’s leading express freight hub. BCT Aviation Maintenance now operates line maintenance bases at five UK and Irish airports, with EMA remaining central to its network.
Chris Taylor, technical director at BCT Aviation Maintenance, said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed line maintenance provider for both Central Airlines and Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services at East Midlands Airport. BCT Aviation Maintenance takes a proactive approach to maintenance that minimises deferred defects and maximises high dispatch reliability, which ensures that our dedicated engineering support delivers the highest levels of operational safety.
“Having been established at EMA for over 15 years, it’s so gratifying for us to see how much the airport has developed and how important it has become to the UK for air freight. We look forward to continuing this development journey as a major airport partner.”
