HAECO takes on Cathay Pacific A321neo line maintenance at HKIA

Engineering and maintenance provider, HAECO, has commenced line maintenance support for Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A321neo fleet at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), expanding its maintenance services to the airline’s narrowbody fleet.

Engineering and maintenance provider, HAECO, has begun providing line maintenance support for Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A321neo fleet at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), extending its services to the airline’s narrowbody operations for the first time.

The agreement, effective since July 1, 2025, broadens a long-standing partnership that now covers the full spectrum of Cathay Pacific’s narrowbody and widebody types, including Boeing 747-400F, 747-8F, 777-300, 777-300ER, Airbus A330-300, A350-900 and A350-1000 aircraft, in addition to the newly added A321neo fleet.

Under the deal, HAECO will provide a full suite of line maintenance services, ranging from planning and transit checks with Certificates of Release to Service, to cabin cleaning, cabin maintenance, overnight work up to A-checks, engine on-wing maintenance, ground equipment support, exterior washing and aircraft-on-ground (AOG) recovery.

HAECO chief commercial officer, Gerald Steinhoff, said: “HAECO has enjoyed a close partnership with Cathay Pacific since our inception 75 years ago. With this new contract, Cathay Pacific now becomes HAECO’s largest narrowbody customer by flight volume. We are proud to deepen our relationship with Hong Kong’s flag carrier.”

Peter Murton, chief executive of HAECO Hong Kong, said: “We are pleased to expand our services to Cathay Pacific, supporting their journey to become one of the world’s leading service brands with a shared commitment to safety and operational excellence.”

The agreement also builds on the Centre of Excellence (CoE), a joint department established with Cathay Pacific in 2020 to streamline line maintenance planning through enhanced digitalisation. The CoE provides real-time dashboards that give both teams instant visibility on manpower, tooling, spare parts and equipment readiness, improving preparation for scheduled tasks and AOG events.

With HKIA’s Third-runway System now fully operational and Terminal 2 due to open soon, HAECO says it is well-placed to help international customers take advantage of the airport’s expanded capacity while upholding the highest safety standards.
