Iberia Maintenance targets automotive talent in new aircraft engine training scheme

Iberia Maintenance has opened a call to hire professionals from other branches within the vehicle maintenance field who are looking to transition into the world of aircraft engine maintenance.

Iberia Maintenance has opened applications for a new training and recruitment initiative aimed at attracting skilled professionals from the wider vehicle maintenance sector into the aviation industry.

The programme, described as pioneering by the company, is tailored to Iberia Maintenance’s operational needs and designed for candidates with intermediate-level vocational training in transport, vehicle maintenance, and automotive disciplines. Successful applicants will transition into roles as aviation turbine engine maintenance technicians.

Those selected will be offered a permanent contract at Iberia Maintenance’s 35,000 sqm engine workshop in La Muñoza, Madrid, where they will undergo 500 hours of combined theoretical and practical training. Practical modules will take place at Iberia Maintenance’s engine workshop and test bench facilities, which employ nearly 700 professionals and handle inspection and repair of more than 200 turbines annually for over 100 global customers.

The new scheme builds on Iberia Maintenance’s existing vocational training programme, launched in 2018. During the 2024–2025 academic year, a record 209 students completed internships at the company’s La Muñoza facilities – double the figure from 2022–2023.
