British low-cost airline Jet2.com has extended its partnership with software provider ELMS Aviation (ELMS), signing a major contract extension that will see the airline continue using the advanced competency and compliance platform until at least 2028.
The move underscores Jet2.com’s dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards across its engineering staff.
A key factor in the decision was the introduction of new functionality within the ELMS Solution, developed with input from Jet2.com.
The airline will be the first to implement these enhanced features, which include a new competency framework, an improved authorisation module, and integration with its maintenance monitoring systems.
The ELMS platform, a cloud-based MRO software, replaces outdated paper-based processes, offering a more efficient way to track employee qualifications, training, and experience. It also supports staff development and succession planning by providing easy access to assessments, workflows, and complex authorisation processes from any connected device.
Jet2.com’s maintenance division, which employs around 1,100 engineers, will benefit from the platform’s personalised dashboards. Each engineer’s competency, approval ratings, and training status will be logged within the system, providing management with valuable data to support risk and safety management, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Steve Taylor, engineering training and development manager at Jet2.com, said: “We’ve been using ELMS since 2016 and in that time have built an extremely collaborative relationship with the team. Working closely together, we have developed enhancements to the system that could have a significant impact for the industry.
“ELMS is an extremely powerful tool, and the next evolution of the software will help us – and other users – improve quality assurance through better staff competency management. The new functionality within the system will allow us to build a more complete and transparent overview of our workforce, including developing specific training needs to individuals, which means we are able to operate more efficiently and with more accountability, which in turn improves safety.”
John Scale, general manager at ELMS, said: “Working with a trusted partner in Jet2.com has allowed us to facilitate a wealth of change within the system. Through new modules like authorisation management, competency processes, and API development, ELMS will drive improvements in efficiency, compliance, training and transparency across any organisation using the system, playing a key role in raising standards within the aviation industry.”
