Lufthansa Technik and Eurowings agree A320 base maintenance contract

Lufthansa Technik has announced it will deliver comprehensive base maintenance support for Eurowings' Airbus A320 family fleet.

Lufthansa Technik has announced it will deliver comprehensive base maintenance support for Eurowings’ Airbus A320 family fleet.

The five-year agreement was signed with Eurowings Technik, the airline’s technical operations department.

To fulfill various letter checks on approximately 40 Eurowings aircraft during the upcoming winter seasons, two dedicated lines at Lufthansa Technik Budapest and two additional lines at Lufthansa Technik Sofia will be allocated.

Eurowings and Lufthansa Technik have a long-standing partnership encompassing component and engine services for various engine types. Additionally, Eurowings was among the first to adopt Lufthansa Technik’s AVIATAR platform, leveraging its digital solutions for technical operations since 2019.

Matthias Gruber, head of technical fleet management at Eurowings and managing director of Eurowings Technik, said: “Based on our long-standing cooperation, we are delighted about the new base maintenance contract with Lufthansa Technik, which will enable us to continue to guarantee the high quality standards in the technical reliability of our aircraft. It also gives us the flexibility we need to get our fleet ready for the summer during the winter season.”

Marcus Motschenbacher, vice president and chief commercial officer of aircraft maintenance services at Lufthansa Technik, said: “The continued trust of Eurowings and the dedication of four lines demonstrates that our base maintenance services and aircraft modification programmes are tailored to our customer’s needs by thinking beyond the obvious. Eurowings currently operates an all-Airbus A320 family fleet of more than 100 aircraft, comprising of the A319, A320, A320neo, A321 and A321neo models.
