Lufthansa Technik lands milestone Cathay TCM services contract
Lufthansa Technik and the Cathay Group have signed their largest maintenance agreement to date, covering six years of exclusive Total Component Maintenance (TCM) for the Hong Kong flag carrier’s 747 and 777 fleets.
Starting in October, the agreement will see Lufthansa Technik provide TCM services for 20 Boeing 747 freighters and 52 Boeing 777 passenger aircraft. The partnership will be delivered under a “power-by-the-hour” model, covering component repair and overhaul across 72 aircraft.
By taking on all component-related activities, Lufthansa Technik aims to deliver high reliability and operational stability for Cathay, while a support package tailored to the airline’s specific needs is expected to maximise fleet availability and cost efficiency.
Keith Brown, director of engineering at Cathay, said: “Cathay has entrusted Lufthansa Technik with component maintenance for more than one-third of our fleet, marking a significant milestone that underscores our confidence in their technical expertise. We look forward to fostering a strong and enduring collaboration that meets our fleet demands and operational priorities.”
Dennis Kohr, senior vice president corporate sales Asia Pacific at Lufthansa Technik, added: “This agreement marks a new milestone in our partnership and demonstrates the confidence Cathay places in our capabilities. We are sincerely grateful for this opportunity and look forward to expanding our partnership through this unique and comprehensive maintenance support program.”
