MRO Greater China: Fly Meta selects HAECO for freighter MRO collaboration

HAECO signs MoU with Fly Meta to advance widebody freighter MRO collaboration

Engineering and maintenance provider HAECO has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Fly Meta Group to advance strategic collaboration across a range of MRO services in support of the cargo airline’s expanding widebody freighter operations.

Under the agreement, HAECO and Hong Kong-based Fly Meta will work towards developing a long-term partnership built around HAECO’s maintenance network and technical capabilities.

The collaboration will focus on airframe maintenance, line maintenance, engine services, landing gear maintenance, composite materials services, and component maintenance and repair for Fly Meta’s Boeing 747F and 777F freighter fleet.

Engine support is expected to form a central part of the partnership. HAECO Engine Services (Xiamen) is expected to provide GE90 engine repair, overhaul, on-wing support and spare engine support. Services on multiple GE90 engines are expected to begin in the second half of 2026, once a multi-year engine service agreement is formalised.

The companies will also explore opportunities to expand collaboration in airframe maintenance in Hong Kong, Xiamen and across the Greater China region as Fly Meta continues to grow its fleet.

HAECO currently provides line maintenance support to more than 140 airlines worldwide through a network of 19 line maintenance stations across Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.

Gerald Steinhoff, chief commercial officer at HAECO, said: “By combining Fly Meta’s growing freighter platform with HAECO’s end-to-end MRO capabilities, including our dedicated airframe, engine and component teams in across the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, we are well positioned to support the long-term development of their fleet and global operations.”

Helen Chen, chief executive officer of Fly Meta, said: “We are pleased to partner with HAECO as we continue to expand our freighter business. HAECO’s strong track record of safe, reliable and high-quality integrated MRO solutions will provide trusted support to our fleet, effectively enhancing our operational efficiency and future growth in a highly competitive logistics environment.”

Established in 2022, Fly Meta Group is an aviation platform specialising in widebody freighter asset management and air cargo solutions.

The company operates a core fleet of Boeing 747F and 777F freighters and integrates aircraft asset management, CMI/ACMI and charter operations, OCC support, and aircraft material management into a unified business system.

The MoU was signed at the inaugural Aviation Week MRO Greater China event in Beijing.
