SR Technics enhances its Malta presence with new six-bay hangar

SR Technics is celebrating the opening of a six-bay maintenance hangar at its centre of excellence for aircraft maintenance in Malta.

The 40,000sq m facility includes workshop space, increased capacity for heavy maintenance, C-checks, and cabin modifications for up to six narrowbody aircraft at a time.

“This new facility is unquestionably one of the most technologically advanced facilities in Europe – both in terms of innovation, as well as stunning design,” said Malta’s prime minister Robert Abela, who attended the hangar opening. “It is also a story of national pride as the largest steel structure ever manufactured and built in Malta. We want only the highest standards for this country and that is what you have created here.”

SR Technics’ chief executive officer Jean-Marc Lenz commented: “I am glad we celebrate together this opening. The new hangar will accommodate both narrow and widebody aircraft at Malta International Airport. By choosing our maintenance services in Malta, you are assured not only the highest levels of safety and reliability but also short turnaround times and cost-efficient service delivery.”

SR Technics Malta’s general manager Arthur Magri commented: “This hangar will support continuous improvements and efficiency and be a major success factor for a sustainable future of SR Technics Malta. The company marks success thanks to the excellent support of the Malta government.”
