PT Lion Group, the largest airline in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, has awarded ST Engineering’s Commercial Aerospace business a new five-year agreement for CFM56-7B engine maintenance.

It is an extension of an existing exclusive contract signed between the two firms in May 2020.

Under the new agreement, ST Engineering will provide the full suite of engine MRO services to additional CFM56-7B engines which power Lion Air, Batik Air, Batik Air Malaysia and Thai Lion Air’s fleets of Boeing 737-Next Generation aircraft.

The contract also includes engine wash services to be provided using ST Engineering’s unique EcoPower® wash system.

Dennis Kirana, PT Batam Aero Technic assistant director, said: “In a move aimed at ensuring top-notch engine maintenance for its diverse fleet, Lion Air Group, Indonesia’s leading airline group, has chosen to extend its long-lasting partnership with ST Engineering due to its continuous outstanding reputation, state-of-the-art facilities and expertise in the aviation industry throughout the years.”

Tay Eng Guan, senior vice president/general manager of engine services at ST Engineering, said: “We are honoured by PT Lion Group’s vote of confidence in ST Engineering by continuing with us as their preferred engine MRO provider.

“The fact that our valued customer has given us the opportunity to continue our support for their operational requirements over the next five years, speaks of a strong and trustful partnership between ST Engineering and PT Lion Group that has developed for more than 15 years.

“We remain fully committed to further grow this collaborative success in support of the airline’s growing operations over the coming years.”

PT Lion Group is based in three countries in Southeast Asia and operates a few airlines. As of November 2023, its airlines serve a total of 60 destinations comprising 39 domestic and 19 international.
