Unite secures above-inflation pay deal for Lufthansa Technik Hayes staff
More than 200 shop floor employees at Lufthansa Technik’s landing gear overhaul facility in Hayes, London, have secured a 5% pay increase following negotiations secured by UK trade union Unite.
The skilled workforce at the site refurbish landing gear for a range of passenger aircraft, including the Airbus A380. The new agreement delivers a 5% uplift across all pay terms for the next 12 months – a rise that exceeds current inflation levels.
Unite general secretary, Sharon Graham, said: “Unite is the winning union and our members in aviation engineering for Lufthansa Technik fully deserve this above-inflation pay award. They are highly skilled and ensure the safety and maintenance of critical aerospace equipment.
“There is power in a union and our members should be congratulated for standing together to ensure they receive fair pay and conditions.”
Unite regional officer, Joe McGowan, added: “This deal is recognition and reward for our members who have made the Hayes plant a worldwide centre of excellence for landing gear overhaul.”
