Norse Atlantic Airways announces digital maintenance solutions agreement with Boeing

Norse Atlantic Airways (Norse) has signed a digital maintenance solutions agreement with Boeing for its fleet of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The airline is the launch customer for Boeing’s new ‘Mobile Logbook’.

Boeing said its newest digital offering “eliminates the need for paper logbooks and provides efficiency and accuracy to flight deck, cabin and line maintenance personnel as they perform critical flight dispatch related activities”.

Norse’s chief operating officer Thom-Arne Norheim said: “Innovation and digitalisation are key to Norse’s business model. By going paperless we also contribute to reducing our carbon footprint.

“We’re looking forward to using Boeing’s digital solutions for our maintenance planning of our 15 787 Dreamliners to increase the efficiency of our operations, and ultimately give our customers an even better travel experience.”

In addition to the Boeing Mobile Logbook, Norse also signed a multi-year agreement for Boeing’s ‘Software Distribution Manager’ and ‘Maintenance Performance Toolbox’.

The Software Distribution Manager service supports the secure wireless transfer of operational data to and from the aircraft, including full flight quick access recorder (QAR)/ continuous parameter logging (CPL) data and loadable software airplane parts management.

The Maintenance Performance Toolbox is a fleet-wide airplane and engine technical document management solution that has allowed airlines to improve turn times and simplify maintenance operations, Boeing said.

“Our digital maintenance solutions help customers become more efficient in their day-to-day operations,” said Boeing Global Services’ vice president of commercial services Brendan Curran.

“Through this partnership with Norse, we will provide support as they implement and benefit from a paperless, digital approach within their maintenance organisation.”
