S7 Technics launches Embraer aircraft heat and sound insulation repair facility

Russian MRO provider S7 Technics has launched a new facility within its cabin interior repair shop at its maintenance base at Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME).

Specialising in maintenance and repair of thermal acoustic insulation (TIA) mats, the facility will enable operators of Embraer aircraft in Russia to repair components locally, instead of the “more costly and time consuming procedure” of ordering and importing new components from foreign providers, the company said.

S7 Technics is approved to repair TIA mats on all Embraer aircraft, having won EASA approval for the component and undergoing training with Safran.

TIA mats are located between fuselage skins and cabin’s interior panels, as well as inside doors, in baggage holds and beneath the floor of lavatories.

The company said it plans to expand its TIA capabilities to include Airbus aircraft “in the near future”.
