ST Engineering has appointed Tan Lee Chew as president commercial and as a member of the group executive committee, effective today (1 September).
Lee Chew will oversee and drive growth for ST Engineering’s commercial cluster, which comprises three business areas: commercial aerospace, urban solutions and satellite communications. It accounts for close to 50 per cent of group revenue, as of 30 June 2021. She will report to group president & CEO Vincent Chong.
Prior to ST Engineering, Lee Chew was managing director, worldwide public sector (ASEAN) at Amazon Web Services. There, she was responsible for leading new business growth through the adoption of AWS services as an enabler to deliver technology transformation at scale for organisations. She previously served at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise for more than 20 years.
With Lee Chew’s appointment, Lim Serh Ghee will relinquish his role as chief commercial officer. He will remain as group chief operating officer (operations excellence), and as a member of the group executive committee until his planned retirement on 30 October 2021.
Serh Ghee joined ST Engineering’s aerospace business in 1984. He has held various senior management appointments over the years, and was president of the aerospace sector from 2014 to 2020. ST Engineering said Serh Ghee had been “instrumental in the continued global growth of the aerospace sector, including strategically moving the sector into original equipment manufacturing of aircraft engine nacelle systems and composite floor panels, as well as expanded its passenger-to-freighter conversion capabilities”.
