Two workers dead after MRO incident at Hartsfield-Jackson

A serious accident at an aircraft maintenance facility in Atlanta has left two workers dead and other seriously injured.

The technicians were servicing a Delta aircraft at the airline’s MRO facility at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airport at around 5am local time on August 27th.

The incident involved wheel components that were not attached to the aircraft at the time, according to a statement from the airline.

The victims have been identified as  Mirko Marweg, 58, and Luis Aldarondo, 37. The name of the injured person has not yet been released.

“The Delta family is heartbroken at the loss of two team members and the injury of another following an incident this morning at the Atlanta Technical Operations Maintenance facility,” a statement from the airline read.

“We are now working with local authorities and conducting a full investigation to determine what happened.”

The Federal Aviation Administration has said that it is “aware of the event and is in communication with the airline”.
