Vietjet has signed an engine supply and service agreement with Rolls-Royce to power the airline’s fleet of widebody aircraft.
The engine manufacturer will supply Vietjet with its Trent 700 engine, with MRO services also included in the US$400 million deal.
The Vietnam-headquartered low-cost airline signed the agreement in Edinburgh, Scotland, in the presence of Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is currently in the UK attending the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).
The Trent 700 engine is the only engine specifically designed for A330 aircraft and has won 60 per cent of the total market, according to Rolls-Royce.
