ANA to retire AirJapan brand
ANA is to retire it’s AirJapan brand following an internal review.
The airline’s aircraft and human resources will be consolidated into the ANA brand’s operations to expand its international business, while the Peach low-cost brand will be unaffected.
A statement from the ANA Group said that the decision was taken to ‘optimise’ the group’s resources, citing changes to the global environment, such as the prolonged war in Ukraine and aircraft delivery delays, with concerns that these issues will continue.

The statement also mentions the aircraft on the ground (AOG) situation regarding its Boeing 787s. The group is one of the primary users of the 787 with over 130 aircraft. In common with other airlines it has faced ongoing engine difficulties, particularly with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines. There has also been the additional scrutiny on the type following the Air India crash which has lead to aircraft spending longer on the ground for additional checks.
Merging the hybrid AirJapan operation into the full-service main brand will give the group greater flexibility in allocating aircraft and crew.
AirJapan was formed in 2000 from an airline called World Air Network. It merged with ANA in 2010. Final operations are planned on all routes on 28-29 March 2026.
