HAECO launches hands-free lavatory upgrades

HAECO: hands-free lavatory post-Covid-19, health and safety

HAECO Cabin Solutions, a business unit of the HAECO Group with headquarters in North Carolina, USA, has launched three devices to upgrade aircraft lavatories to hands-free operation.

This new measure is in response to concerns of air passengers regarding cabin hygiene following the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

The pre-certified devices include:

  • An electric foot-controlled switch for flushing toilets
  • An infrared sensor-based wastebasket lid for disposal of toilet waste
  • A refillable hand sanitiser dispenser, eliminating the need for disposable sanitising wipes and paper towels. The dispenser may also be used in other areas of aircraft interiors.

The company is offering these upgrades individually, to allow airlines to choose the device or devices that would provide them the greatest value.

President and group director of HAECO Cabin Solutions, Doug Rasmussen, said: “In our current environment and expectations for the future, passengers would greatly benefit from these enhancements to onboard sanitation.

“These devices are already familiar to consumers, and we can certify their use in aircraft for integration into the aircraft cabin.”

Other companies that have been launching new innovations to ensure aircraft cabin safety in the wake of coronavirus include Safran Seats and Aviation Glass, among others.
