Recaro Aircraft Seating has delivered the first ship set of its BL3530 seats for Boeing 737 installation.

This is the first delivery under the Sprint programme to customer Air Lease Corporation.

Recaro launched the Sprint programme in 2019 to develop and ship predefined BL3530 seats for lessors with a lead time of only two months of the order being submitted.

The Sprint programme can equip either an A320 or B737 with the BL3530 economy class seat, which lessors can customise with one of five different predefined e-leather dress covers: light blue, dark blue, light grey, dark grey or red. Recaro is the first aircraft seating manufacturer to introduce a seating programme that offers lessors a customisable seat with a two-month turnaround.

“The feedback we gathered from lessors reflected a clear need for seats with a shorter lead time, so we began brainstorming,” said Recaro regional sales director, customer service, Sophie Moeller.

“We first developed the Smart and Swift programmes, which supply seats within six and four months, respectively, but it was clear that an even shorter timeframe was needed. We collaborated with programme management and engineering to create a predeveloped seat that could be ordered and shipped within two months, and Sprint was born.”

Recaro has stated that due to its sophisticated solutions and reliable design, the BL3530 maximises living space and comfort for passengers, while still minimising maintenance costs for the airline. The seats, tailored to short and medium-haul flights in economy class provide a high literature pocket, a recline up to four inches, an ergonomic seat cushion, and a coat hook.

According to its fourth-quarter 2019 results, during the quarter ended December 31, 2019, Air Lease Corporation took delivery of 11 new aircraft and purchased one aircraft from the secondary market, sold 19 aircraft and transferred eight aircraft.
