The Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission (TVSDC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Amman-based MRO Joramco to enhance vocational training and create new opportunities for young Jordanians in the commercial aircraft maintenance sector.
Through this collaboration, TVSDC will facilitate the training of selected students at the Joramco Academy, which specialises in preparing individuals for careers in commercial aircraft MRO. Participants will engage in a comprehensive four-year aircraft maintenance programme, equipping them with the necessary skills to excel as technicians.
During the signing ceremony, Dr. Raghda Al-Faouri, president of TVSDC, emphasised the importance of this agreement in expanding career opportunities for Jordan’s youth. She highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the strategic objectives of nurturing the talents of the Kingdom’s youth and enhancing their capabilities in fields that are in high demand both locally and internationally.
This initiative aligns with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, both strong proponents of vocational and technical education.
The programme will provide 25 promising young individuals with job opportunities for a period of 12 months. To qualify, candidates must be Jordanian citizens, at least 17 years old, proficient in English, not currently enrolled in social security, have passed the General Secondary Certificate Examinations (Tawjihi), demonstrate enthusiasm for the aviation industry, and have financial need to cover tuition fees.
Dr. Al-Faouri also provided an overview of TVSDC’s role, including its key responsibilities and accomplishments. She outlined the commission’s strategy, which includes issuing training licenses, conducting professional examinations, granting practice licenses, training and certifying instructors, accrediting training providers based on professional standards, and fostering partnerships with the private sector through sector skills councils.
Dr. Al-Faouri praised Joramco’s significant contributions to the aircraft MRO industry and commended the company’s dedication to creating new opportunities for Jordanian youth through this collaboration.
At the ceremony, Fraser Currie, chief executive of Joramco, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working with national institutions to raise awareness about the aircraft maintenance programme. He highlighted the sector’s strong potential, stable career prospects and its vital role in the national economy.
Currie also acknowledged the pivotal role TVSDC plays in enabling companies and institutions in Jordan to implement specialised training programme that develop the skills of young people in dynamic industries, preparing them for entry into the workforce.
This training initiative is open to talented Jordanian youth from all governorates across the Kingdom.
