Stellar Entertainment founders complete management buyout succession

The founders of inflight entertainment provider Stellar Entertainment have transferred ownership of the company to CEO Sam Allen, CFO Annie Zhong and COO Daniel Jacobs, completing a planned succession process after more than five decades under founder ownership.

The Australia-based company was founded by Rob and Helen Lynch in the mid-1970s. Now, Allen, Zhong and Jacobs, who already lead the business's day-to-day operations, will continue to run Stellar as an independent company. The management team has overseen recent expansion of the firm's airline customer base and technology investments.

Sam Allen, Chief Executive Officer of Stellar Entertainment, thanked the Lynches adding: "We’ll continue building on what they’ve created with the same commitment to our customers, partners and people that has always defined Stellar.”

According to the founders, the business began when they responded to a Qantas advertisement seeking a supplier of boarding music. From those beginnings, the company evolved into a specialist provider of inflight entertainment content and related services for airlines.

Today, Stellar provides content acquisition, licensing, programming, metadata management, creative services and technology platforms that help airlines manage and deliver inflight entertainment. The company works with more than 1,000 content partners and serves airlines around the world.
