Deliveries begin of Recaro R4 Premium Economy seat
Manufacture says the new seats will be in revenue service before year end

Recaro has announced that its new R4 premium seat has received the necessary certifications and has started to be delivered to clients, with entry into service expected later this year.
As a successor to the long-running PL3530 seat, the R4 was announced as a concept at AIX in 2023, but it was at the 2025 edition of the show that ANA was announced as the launch customer for the platform with an order for its B787-9 fleet.
While the Premium Economy seat is broadly similar to its predecessor, enhancements such as a six-way adjustable headrest with neck support, privacy wings, ambient lighting, an enlarged tray table, and provision for a 16-inch IFE screen are fitted.
"We are proud to introduce the R4, the latest addition to our Premium Class portfolio. Building on the success of the PL3530, the R4 reflects our commitment to combining comfort, ergonomics, and premium features in a seating solution designed to meet the evolving expectations of both airlines and passengers," said Mark Hiller, CEO and Shareholder of RECARO Aircraft Seating and CEO of RECARO Holding.
