Qatar Airways Cargo is to launch its first scheduled freighter service from Helsinki on September 2, increasing its cargo capacity from the Finnish capital to more than 170 tonnes per week.
The once-weekly Boeing 777 freighter will operate on the Doha–Budapest–Helsinki–Doha route, providing 100 tonnes of weekly export capacity from Helsinki.
The service will complement Qatar Airways' seven weekly passenger flights between Doha and Helsinki, which provide more than 70 tonnes of belly-hold capacity each week in both directions.
Helsinki serves as a gateway for high-value and specialised cargo from Finland and the wider Nordic region.
Key exports include high-tech products, electronics, industrial machinery and spare parts, pharmaceuticals, healthcare products, perishables and e-commerce shipments.
Qatar Airways Cargo said its specialist products, including TechLift, Pharma, Fresh and Courier, will support the handling requirements of these commodities.
The carrier also offers scheduled and ad hoc road feeder services to and from Helsinki through its RFS partners, extending connectivity across Scandinavia and the Baltic region.
The new freighter service will connect Finnish and Nordic customers with Qatar Airways Cargo's wider network across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia and Australia through its Doha hub.
