DEVIL IN THE DETAIL

Retail is detail as the old saying goes, and this is as true in the world of selling tickets and add-ons as it is on the High Street.

You’ll notice that we have covered the world of payments in detail in this issue, from the back-end systems and virtual cards to the importance of getting the customer-facing interface right. Anything missed will likely lead to customer frustration and the client looking elsewhere to place their bookings.

AirFi’s solution, covered in an interview with the CEO on P10, is something that I found particularly interesting as, unlike most onboard connectivity products, it doesn’t base its business model on outright speed, preferring to focus on supplying just enough bandwidth to allow messaging and secure payments to be processed. It has also concentrated on providing a pleasant user interface, a detail often criticised on traditional IFE systems.
