Commercial and military aerospace aftermarket support company Aeromax Industries has acquired precision aerospace machining specialist The Ely Co., in its first acquisition since being bought by Chimney Rock Equity Partners.
Based in Torrance, California, Ely produces tight-tolerance metallic components for the commercial and military aerospace sectors, with capabilities spanning milling, turning and assembly work for major aerospace customers.
The deal strengthens Aeromax’s manufacturing base and adds further precision metallic production capability to its portfolio as it looks to expand its position in the aerospace aftermarket.
Ely has deep roots in the Southern California aerospace sector. The company was founded in 1955 and has been owned by members of the Senff family since 1964. Following the transaction, Kurt and Wally Senff will continue to lead the business as part of Aeromax.
Sean Khosrovani, president and chief operating officer of Aeromax, said: “Ely brings valuable precision metallic production capabilities to the Aeromax portfolio. The business fits well into Aeromax’s strategic plan to continue expanding and investing in our manufacturing capabilities.
"We are excited to welcome Kurt and Wally to the Aeromax family, and are confident that the combination of our organisations will allow Ely to continue supporting customers with the leading quality, reliability, and on-time delivery they associate with the Ely brand.”
Wally and Kurt Senff said: “We are proud of the reputation that Ely has built over 60 years of leadership by members of our family, and we are excited to continue leading the organisation in this new chapter.
"Our partnership with Aeromax and its worldwide customer base will allow for exciting opportunities to further invest in Ely’s growth and our employees.”
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. JANAS Associates served as financial advisor to the seller.
