Air Canada relaunches the only direct flight between the UK and Canada’s capital
Air Canada has relaunched flights between London Heathrow (LHR) and Ottawa, Ontario (YOW), making it the only direct flight between the UK and the Canadian capital city.
This summer, the Canadian flag carrier will operate four weekly flights departing from Heathrow each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoon, landing in Ottawa in just over seven hours.
The return flights will depart from Ottawa on the same days, but in the evening. The service will run until October 25, 2025, and all flights will be operated by Air Canada’s 787-9 Dreamliner fleet.
Air Canada’s executive vice president of revenue and network panning and president of cargo, Mark Galardo, said: ““With Air Canada’s Heathrow to Ottawa flights offering easy access to and from Canada’s National Capital region, we are proud to be supporting international business and corporate travel, tourism, plus people visiting friends and family, and look forward to welcoming customers onboard.”
Ross Baker, Heathrow’s chief customer officer, added: “Heathrow is committed to offering passengers more choices than ever when it comes to traveling the world, and we are always looking to expand our global reach in collaboration with our airline partners. The launch of Air Canada’s new route to Canada’s capital demonstrates how the world’s most-connected airport is becoming even more connected.”
Air Canada will also be offering up to 63 weekly flights between Heathrow and Canada this summer, with direct flights to major cities like Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
The airlines global network will offer UK travellers more options to connect via Canada to destinations across the US, the Caribbean, South America, and Mexico, as well as to a wide range of smaller cities within Canada.
Passengers flying through Air Canada’s hubs airports to the US can also benefit from US customs preclearance, which allows them to pre-clear all immigration and customs processes for the US in the pre-departure phase.
