American Airlines appoints Richmond to lead its legal affairs team
American Airlines Group has appointed Anthony Richmond as executive vice president of corporate affairs, and chief legal officer, effective as of May 5, 2025.

His responsibilities will include oversight of the company’s corporate governance, securities and corporate finance, commercial, litigation, labour relations and employment, competition and antitrust, compliance, privacy, environmental, and intellectual property legal issues and work.
Richmond, who will report to American’s chief executive, Robert Isom, is joining the airline from global law firm, Latham & Watkins, where he has been a partner in the corporate department since 1996, and served as a chair of the audit committee for over a decade. Currently, he chairs its strategic initiative committee.
He was also formerly a co-chair of Latham & Watkins’ retail and consumer products industry group and has experience in finance and securities matters involving both public and private companies.
“Tony has been an important advisor to our airline for more than 15 years, and we are excited to have him step into this critical leadership role,” said Isom. “Given his knowledge of our team, our airline and the industry, this will be a seamless transition. We look forward to all the great things Tony and our legal team will do for American in the years to come.”
Richmond began his career at Deloitte as a certified public accountant, after earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkley.
