easyJet launches new direct route from Southend Airport to Malta
Low-cost airline easyJet has launched a new direct flight route operating four times a week from London Southend Airport to Malta.
The new flights, which launched on March 31, 2025, means Southend has become the 19th airport to offer direct flights from the UK to Malta.
Tolene van der Merwe, UK and Ireland director of Visit Malta, the official tourism website and authority for Malta, said of the route expansion: “We are delighted to welcome this new easyJet route, which provides even more travellers with the opportunity to experience everything Malta has to offer.
“By enhancing connectivity from Southend, we are not only making it easier for visitors to reach us but also expanding Malta’s reach to a broader audience in the UK. We look forward to welcoming new and returning travellers to our island.”
Nigel Mayes, business development director at London Southend Airport, added: “We are thrilled to re-introduce flights between London Southend Airport and Malta. This new route, with four flights per week from our award-winning airport, offers passengers from across Essex, London and East Anglia a convenient, quick and easy way to reach this stunning Mediterranean island, whether for a relaxing getaway or a cultural adventure.
“We’re working closely with Visit Malta to ensure its success and look forward to welcoming travellers heading to Malta from London and beyond.”
