Jet2 launches first flight from new base at Luton Airport
British low-cost airline, Jet2.com, and Jet 2 Holidays, the largest tour operator in the UK, have launched the company’s first inaugural flight from its 13th airport base at London Luton Airport (LTN).
For its summer ‘25 program, Jet2 will operate up to 36 weekly flights to 17 destinations departing from Luton, with over 43,000 seats on sale, on two brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The destinations include the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, mainland Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Madeira, and two that will be available exclusively from LTN, Girona, Spain, and Verona, Italy.
The company has also released its winter 2025-2026 schedule for its new base at Luton airport, featuring eight ‘winter sun’ destinations, including Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, Alicante, Spain, Antalya, Turkey and Faro and Madeira in Portugal.
The programme will have mover 140,000 seats for sale and up to 19 weekly flights during peak periods.
The addition of the new base forms part of Jet2’s plans for growth, following the recent establishment and launch of flights from its 12th UK airport base, Bournemouth Airport.
Jet2.com has been recognised as Which? Recommended Provider for the last 10 years, and Jet2Holidays for the last eight, as well as Which? Travel Brand of the Year for the past three. With its arrival at Luton, the company can expand its footprint in Southern England and provide more flight options for travel agents and independent travellers.
In addition, Jet 2 states that the new operations at Luton have resulted in significant investment of the region, with more than 125 jobs created for flight deck and cabin crew, engineers, and ground operations colleagues’ roles.
Alberto Martin, chief executive of London Luton Airport, commented:
“As you would expect, the arrival of a major new airline such as Jet2 has created huge excitement at London Luton Airport. Jet2’s first summer programme at LLA is fantastic news for the millions of holidaymakers who choose to fly from the airport each year, with even greater choice in the form of 36 weekly flights to 17 sunshine destinations. Our commitment, as ever, will be to ensure a simple and friendly passenger experience for all those who travel through the airport.”
Steven Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, added:
“We are excited to be bringing our proposition to holidaymakers from across the region and are looking forward to enjoying enormous success at our newest base, just as we always do when we start operations at a new airport base…This significant expansion, along with our inaugural flight from London Luton Airport today, demonstrates just how confident we are in our award-winning product.”
