Lufthansa Systems to enhance airline operations with Lido Flight 4D IFS solution
Lufthansa Systems, the airline IT provider and subsidiary of German aviation group Lufthansa, is seeking to enhance airline operations with its Lido Flight 4D integrated flight support (IFS) solution.
Designed to improve dispatcher efficiency, situational awareness, and streamline flight operations via intelligent automation, the Lido Flight 4D IFS solution integrates flight planning and monitoring into a single system, providing a clear list-based overview of flight status, exceptions, and alerts, eliminating the guesswork previously required to identify issues such as rejected flights.
This allows airlines to manage flights by exception instead of performing repetitive manual tasks and reduces dispatcher workload while improving operational decision making.
The platform also utilises fixed parameters to help ensure consistent performance and enhancing mapping capabilities to provide better geographical insights.
Lufthansa Systems states that with its advance automation, real-time monitoring, and flight integration, Lido Flight 4D IFS will change how airlines manage their flight operations for greater efficiency, reliability, and situational awareness.
The Greek flag carrier, AEGEAN, became one of the first adopters of the system in November 2024, but Lufthansa expect it is just the first of many to follow.
Nikolaos Vasilakis, head of flight dispatch at AEGEAN, said: “Being among the first to implement Lido Flight 4D IFS is yet another significant step for AEGEAN. This innovative solution enhances our operational efficiency and supports our commitment to technological advancement.
“While the alignment and transition of systems is always a challenge, it provided us with the flexibility to adapt progressively, ensuring a seamless and optimised flight planning experience.”
Philipp Barzen, head of Lido at Lufthansa Systems, also commented on the system’s future: “Our customers play an important role in developing our solutions. These partnerships allow us to gather valuable insights and help us optimise our cutting-edge solutions. As early adopters, the airlines can actively shape Lido Flight 4D IFS. We are confident that the benefits will outweigh the initial effort, paving the way for a more innovative future.”
