Muirhead Avionics/AMETEK MRO, has received certification from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), asserting it has met its stringent calibration and testing laboratory requirements.

Muirhead Avionics specialises in the repair, overhaul and maintenance of complex OEM equipment for Airbus and Boeing fleets, so the UKAS accreditation confirms the company’s commitment to operating at the highest standards.

David Bentley, divisional vice president and business unit manager at Muirhead Avionics, said: “Our calibration laboratory has a fully compliant calibration management system, quality manual, documented procedures and processes, as well as a team of technical staff trained to maintain the highest levels of competence.”

The accreditation standard is set by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to assess competence and consistent operation of facilities like Muirhead Avionics’, but the certifications are given by accreditation bodies, such as UKAS.

The UKAS framework can provide workers with a clear structure to operate under, according to Muirhead Avionics calibration technician, Hetaxi Rami: “Everything runs more smoothly because the processes are well-defined and consistent, and this helps to us stay on-track every day. They guide us to maintain high quality and even spot potential issues early on, which saves time and effort.”
