The airline recorded its highest-ever single-day total on July 31, when 72,340 passengers travelled with SunExpress. The figure surpasses the carrier's previous daily record of 70,444 passengers, set in August 2025.
The record weekend fell during the peak summer travel period, driven by demand for the Turkish Riviera and visits to family and friends in Türkiye.
"The summer holiday season is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods of the year. We're currently seeing high demand both from vacationers traveling to the Turkish Riviera and from people visiting family and friends in Türkiye," said Helmut Wölfel, commercial director at SunExpress.
"The new passenger record clearly shows that Türkiye remains one of the most popular travel destinations," Wölfel said.
SunExpress carried more than six million passengers between January and June. The airline expects to carry around four million additional passengers across the peak months of July and August.
Across its network, the carrier operates more than 220 flights a day on average, transporting around 34,000 passengers daily. Since the start of the year, the SunExpress fleet has flown more than 82 million kilometres, equivalent to more than 2,000 circuits of the Earth.
The figures underline sustained capacity utilisation on Turkish leisure and diaspora routes during the airline's core summer trading window, a period that typically accounts for a disproportionate share of annual revenue for carriers focused on the Mediterranean and Turkish markets.
