Lufthansa Technik Philippines has broken ground on a new base maintenance facility at Clark International Airport as it expands its widebody MRO capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
The joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MacroAsia Corporation is investing a three-digit-million-dollar sum in the facility, which will be built on a 157,000 sqm site around 100km from its existing operation at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.
Scheduled to begin operations in 2028, the Clark facility is expected to create around 1,200 skilled jobs and will include a paint shop and workshops for non-destructive testing.
The new site will complement Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ Manila facility, where the company has provided MRO services for more than 25 years.
Lufthansa Technik Philippines currently specialises in MRO services for Airbus A330, A340 and A380 aircraft, as well as the Boeing 777.
The company plans to add Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 capabilities following the opening of the Clark facility, further expanding its widebody maintenance portfolio.
During the construction and ramp-up of the new site, Lufthansa Technik Philippines will draw on technical expertise and processes established at its Manila operation.
