MAG expands MRO and engineering capabilities with global partnerships

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has established seven strategic partnerships with aviation, engineering, technology and logistics companies to strengthen its MRO capabilities and support long-term growth.

The agreements cover component support, engineering, materials management and aviation logistics, with the aim of improving fleet reliability, operational efficiency and supply chain resilience.

Partnerships with Thales, Airbus Flight Hour Services (FHS), Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M), Boeing and Collins Aerospace will strengthen Malaysia Airlines’ access to component support, repair capabilities, technical expertise and materials management.

The collaborations are expected to improve the availability of critical aircraft parts, support maintenance planning and increase the responsiveness of engineering operations.

Meanwhile, a partnership with CEVA Logistics will provide integrated logistics support for aircraft components, critical spare parts and other materials, helping MAG meet maintenance requirements across its network.

MAG is also expanding the role of its engineering subsidiary, MAB Engineering Services, as an MRO provider to third-party airline customers.

An extended collaboration with Batik Air Malaysia builds on existing line maintenance services delivered across multiple locations, supporting the subsidiary’s ambitions to expand its external customer base.

Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, president and group chief executive of MAG, said: “Our focus is therefore not simply on strengthening standalone maintenance activities, but on establishing an integrated, resilient MRO and engineering platform for the Group.

“These partnerships bring together global expertise, technical capabilities and supply chain support with our own engineering strengths, enabling us to better support our airlines while also creating opportunities to grow our MRO business.”

MAG said the seven partnerships would establish a stronger foundation for a more efficient and commercially capable engineering operation, while supporting the Group’s wider operational and growth objectives.
