Vietnam Airlines and Safran Electronics & Defense have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the Cassiopée Alpha flight data analysis platform, covering the period 2026–2030.

The announcement, made at the Paris Air Show 2025, builds on a two-decade collaboration between the companies and will see Vietnam Airlines replace its existing Cassiopée AGS software with the new all-in-one solution.

Designed to support flight safety, operations, maintenance, and data science, Cassiopée Alpha offers modular tools for both on-premises and SaaS environments. Features include the ‘Pilot in the Loop’ module for crew self-debriefing and the ‘Tech Profile’ module for predictive and reactive maintenance.

Le Duc Canh, executive vice president of Vietnam Airlines, said: “This agreement marks an important step forward in our ongoing digital transformation journey. The deployment of Cassiopée Alpha reflects our strong commitment to operational excellence, safety enhancement, and sustainable development.

“By integrating advanced data analytics and predictive maintenance capabilities, the solution will not only help us meet the highest international safety standards but also optimize fleet performance and reduce environmental impact.”

The platform also supports the SFCO2 fuel efficiency service, already used by Vietnam Airlines, to help cut emissions and operating costs.

Valentin Safir, executive vice president of avionics at Safran Electronics & Defense, said: “This new step demonstrates our commitment to offering innovative solutions in support of passenger safety, operational efficiency, and environmental transition. This initiative also supports Vietnam’s pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and enhances the passenger experience through high-quality, eco-conscious travel.”

The MoU was formalised during the Vietnam-France Business Forum on 11 June 2025 in the presence of Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chính.
