Safran Landing Systems has inaugurated a US$22 million expansion of its MRO facility in Singapore, increasing landing gear overhaul capacity to support growing demand across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the investment adds a 7,500 sqm extension featuring a new assembly line for landing gear overhauls.
Safran said the expansion will increase capacity and flexibility at the site while enabling the deployment of advanced repair technologies and broadening its repair capabilities in Singapore.
Established in 1979, the facility is Safran Landing Systems’ key commercial aircraft landing systems MRO site in the region and has been a strategic partner of SIA Engineering Company since 2000.
Its capabilities span disassembly, inspection, machining, surface treatment, assembly and final certification, supporting landing systems for aircraft including the Airbus A320 family, A330, A350 and A380, Boeing 737 and 787, and ATR regional aircraft.
The facility currently employs 360 people, with the expansion expected to create almost 100 additional jobs by 2030. Safran said it will also continue investing in training and talent development as the site's technical capabilities grow.

Sustainability measures incorporated into the new building include 2,800 sqm of solar panels, comprising 800 panels, alongside energy-efficient LED lighting and advanced cooling systems.
Safran expects the solar installation to generate renewable electricity equivalent to approximately 60% of the site's consumption.
