StandardAero has secured an exclusive, multi-year contract to provide MRO services for the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127M engines powering Precision Air’s regional turboprop fleet.
The agreement extends the long-standing relationship between StandardAero and the Tanzanian airline, covering engines powering its fleet of nine ATR 42-500/600 and ATR 72-500 aircraft.
MRO services will be provided from StandardAero’s overhaul facilities in Summerside, Canada, and Gonesse, France, supported by its service centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
StandardAero is an authorised PW100 Designated Overhaul Facility and has supported operators of the engine family for more than 40 years, having been appointed as its first independent MRO provider in 1984.
Christian Shirima, head of maintenance at Precision Air, said: “We are delighted to renew our contract with StandardAero, which has been instrumental in attending to our engine needs, be it HSIs, overhauls, leased engines or unscheduled shop visits.
“Throughout our collaboration, StandardAero has demonstrated proven technical excellence and flexible support solutions.”
Shirima added that Precision Air plans to further integrate StandardAero’s engine programmes into its maintenance planning and quality systems as it expands its ATR MRO capabilities.
He said aligning engine maintenance timelines and technical updates with the airline’s training curriculum would also help ensure technicians and flight crews receive the latest instruction on engine systems, troubleshooting and safety procedures.
Nasser Skalli Housseini, regional sales director - Europe, Middle East & Africa at StandardAero, said: “We know how important it is for Precision Air to operate reliably for its customers, and we are committed to providing dependable engine services that support this objective.
“We look forward to continuing to provide Precision Air with responsive, reliable engine services for many years to come.”
StandardAero’s PW100 offering also includes component repair, rental engine solutions, on-site field service and engine condition trend monitoring services.
Precision Air operates domestic and regional services from its Dar es Salaam hub, including flights to Nairobi and Comoros.
