STS Aviation Services acquires UK-based GT Engine Services

STS Aviation Services (STS), a division of STS Aviation Group and provider of aircraft MRO solutions, has announced the acquisition of UK-based engine MRO, GT Engine Services (GTES).

STS says that acquiring GTES builds on its strategy for a single point solution and accelerates STS’ growth into the engine sector, opening further capability to its growing customer base.

STS Aviation Group’s chief executive PJ Anson, said: “Myself and the board at STS are delighted we have been able to conclude the acquisition of GT Engine Services, which delivers on our strategy of being a significant provider of airframe, material, and now engine maintenance and repair solutions. This further demonstrates the commitment we have to the UK and European markets.

“We look forward to working with the team at GT Engine Services and supporting their ambitious plans for growth over the next few years.”

Previous owner and chief executive, Greg Macleod, will continue to lead the team at GT Engine Services as managing director for engineering services, and will report directly to Ian Bartholomew, executive vice president and managing director of STS Aviation Services Europe.

Bartholomew said: “The last four years have been an incredible journey for the team. With hard work and commitment, we have established STS as a key player in the MRO sector in the UK and Europe.

“With a significant presence in the UK and operations at key locations, we have built an enviable portfolio of highly credible customers, many of whom we share with GT Engine Services. With our success, we have created hundreds of new jobs in the UK, with plans to add a significant number of new roles this year.

“With the addition of GT Engine Services, we will unlock new and exciting opportunities. My team and I look forward to welcoming our new colleagues and working with Greg and his team.”

GT Engine Services was established in 2010 and has positioned itself to become one of the UK’s leading engine management providers, delivering repair and management of CFM56, CFM LEAP, CF34,CF6, PW4000, V2500, RB211, GTF, and Trent 700 engines.

Macleod said: “The last 14 years have been very special for me, and I am very proud of what we have achieved. GT Engine Services is now ideally placed with a great workforce and team to join STS and start to write the next chapter.

“I have known Ian for several years, and I am delighted to be joining his leadership team as managing director, engine services for STS, becoming part of the broader STS Aviation Group family with opportunities to leverage the scale and reach of the organization, delivering our strategic growth plan.”

The acquisition of GTES was signed on May 28, 2024, and the integration plan will start immediately.
