Global airport experiences firm, Airport Dimensions, has announced it has acquired a 45% stake in PT Bumi Liputan Angkasa, a subsidiary of Blue Sky Group, the owner of Blue Sky Lounge.

Airport Dimensions, which is part of the Collinson Group, said the investment marks a significant step in its rapid expansion into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, the second fastest-growing aviation network in the world.

As part of the new collaboration, the companies will open a new airport lounge at Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (UPG) later in 2025, in an effort to elevate the passenger experience across the region.

Blue Sky Lounge is a premium airport hospitality provider that services key airports across Indonesia, offering assisted check-in, airside pickup, and buggy services, as well as amenities like shower rooms, nurseries, prayer rooms, working stations, etc. Notable airports include the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta, the Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali, and Juanda International Airport (SUB) in Surabaya.

The acquisition significantly expands Airport Dimensions’ presence in APAC, welcoming a further 11 airport lounges to the network and further plans for growth under the new partnership. These lounges are located across Indonesia in major regions and airports such as Jakarta (Terminals 1, 2 and 3), Balikpapan, Samarinda, Batam, Bali, Pontianak, Palembang, Pekanbaru and Surabaya.

Errol McGlothan, president of Airport Dimensions’ Europe, Middle East, Asia (EMEA) and APAC division, said: “Indonesia represents an incredibly dynamic market, and we are thrilled to partner with Blue Sky Lounge to bring our global expertise to this rapidly growing aviation network.

“Airport Dimensions is committed to delivering world-class operational expertise to support Indonesia’s swift growth as a key regional hub for business and tourism. Through this partnership, global best practices will be seamlessly integrated with local expertise to meet the ever-evolving needs of travellers.”

McGlothan added: “We are incredibly excited to have a new lounge underway in Makassar. This project signifies our commitment to elevating the passenger experience and we look forward to seeing how this will transform the airport lounge experience in the region.”

President director of Blue Sky Group, Linan Kurniahu, added: “We’re thrilled to be able to partner with one of the largest Airport Lounge networks in the world. This marks a significant milestone in our over 50 years of journey in this hospitality industry in the country. We hope to bring greater travel experience into all airports throughout Indonesia, and we hope that through this partnership we can expand our presence internationally.”
