First premium lounge to open at LCY

London City Airport is to open a premium lounge in partnership with Swissport International’s airport hospitality brand, Aspire Pre‑Flight Hospitality.

Perhaps surprisingly for a business-focussed airport handling millions of passengers per year, there has been no lounge until now.

Construction is now underway, with a planned opening by Q1 2027. The lounge will be situated after security and will feature a view of the airport’s runway. It will feature amenities familiar to users of other similar facilities, but with the addition of dedicated workspaces with extensive seating and private booths to provide privacy for calls.

Andy Cliffe, Chief Executive Officer of London City Airport, says: “Our partnership with Aspire Pre-Flight Hospitality has unlocked an exciting opportunity to bring this space to life at a time when we are growing and innovating across our business”.

Karen Cox, CEO United Kingdom & Ireland, Swissport International says: “The pre-flight experience market is in high growth driven by the new demands of the discerning traveller. Aspire is leading the way, constantly innovating and improving its guest experience to reflect this”.

The announcement follows London City Airport’s major upgrade to its main departure lounge area, which was completed in 2024.
