Jules Matteoni has been appointed the new chief executive of Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK), succeeding Ian Forgie who is retiring after five years in the role.
Matteoni has worked at the airport for more than 33 years and will start his new role on July 1, 2026.
Most recently PIK’s operations director, Matteoni has played a central role in developing the airport’s position as a leading UK gateway for international cargo and e-commerce traffic.
Matteoni said: “I am looking forward to working with the team at PIK to build on the strong progress we have achieved together. We will continue to strengthen our existing markets while pursuing new opportunities that reflect the airport’s unique commercial advantages and strategic position within the UK supply chain.
PIK said the appointment follows an extensive recruitment process led by the airport’s board and supported by an external executive search firm.
Dr Willie Mackie CBE, chairman of PIK, said: “I am delighted to confirm that Jules will become the next CEO of Glasgow Prestwick Airport. He has dedicated more than three decades to the airport and is highly respected across the aviation sector.
“His leadership has been instrumental in the development of our e-commerce business, which has transformed our cargo operations, and he is exceptionally well placed to lead the airport through its next phase of growth.”
Forgie became chief executive in March 2021 and has overseen significant expansion across the airport’s cargo operations.
This includes the processing of more than 33 million e-commerce parcels during the past 12 months, the establishment of regular freighter services linking Scotland and mainland China, and the export of more than 1.5 million kilograms of Scottish salmon between January 1 and May 15, 2026.
