K&R International Services (K&R) has deployed Descartes’ global security filing solution to automate European Union Import Control System 2 (ICS2) submissions for charter cargo carriers handling large volumes of e-commerce shipments.

The solution enables K&R to standardise air shipment data and automate hundreds of thousands of regulatory submissions each month, helping it meet tight cargo security processing windows as volumes increase.

A single charter flight can contain tens of thousands of individual e-commerce parcels, each requiring shipment data to be processed within regulatory and operational deadlines.

Kelly McFall, president at K&R, said: “At this scale, one-at-a-time security filings aren’t feasible. Descartes helps us automate and standardise this work, giving our team the capacity to support high volume ecommerce while maintaining the accuracy and responsiveness our carrier customers require.”

Using the Descartes Global Logistics Network, the solution standardises shipment data capture, electronically transmits security filings to customs authorities and manages customs responses and exceptions.

Descartes said these capabilities can improve filing accuracy and support efficient cross-border customs processing where entry timelines are compressed and shipment volumes are high.

Its security filing services support regulatory requirements across the US and Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia-Pacific.

Scott Sangster, general manager, logistics services providers at Descartes, said: “High-volume e-commerce air cargo creates a demanding security filing environment, especially when charter flights consolidate large numbers of individual parcels.

“K&R’s use of our Global Security Filing solution demonstrates how automation and connectivity can help a specialised air cargo service provider process substantial volumes efficiently and support compliant cargo movement into the EU and around the world.”
