Air India is facilitating travel from the UK to Australia and Southeast Asia with reduced connection times down to 2.5 hours in its hub airports of Delhi and Mumbai.

The decision to make improvements on these routes comes in response to a significant increase in international travel between the regions from 2023 to 2024. The added air traffic has presented an opportunity for Air India to improve connectivity between the regions.

“India’s geographical advantage and impressive airport infrastructure, combined with Air India’s robust route network, offer convenient one-stop access for travellers from the West to East and vice-versa”, said Nipun Aggarwal, chief commercial officer of Air India.

The flagship airline operates daily routes from London Heathrow to Delhi, as well as Delhi to Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and other countries in Asia, and its new operations will allow for easy same-terminal transfers for people stopping over.

Air India passengers flying these routes will fly aboard its newest A350-900 aircraft which debuted September 2024. The plane boasts wider and updated interiors, advanced entertainment systems, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The airline has also launched the ‘Via’ marketing campaign with the hope that spreading the word of the new initiative will help promote India as a world-class hub for air travel.
