Wizz Air has signed a new long-term agreement with Lufthansa Technik to keep using the electronic technical logbook supplied through the MRO provider’s AVIATAR platform.

The renewal, announced at MRO Europe, covers more than 400 Airbus A320-family aircraft, up from the initial fleet-wide rollout across more than 140 aircraft in 2022.

The aim is to speed up defect resolution and reduce manual maintenance documentation.

Wizz Air says the system has reduced calls to its maintenance control centre by more than 25% since implementation and that manual documentation work can be cut by up to 50%.

The electronic logbook lets flight crews report technical defects digitally and share them immediately with maintenance controllers and engineering teams. It integrates with the AMOS maintenance and engineering platform, where any required work is planned and executed.

Completed maintenance records and supporting documentation then pass to flydocs, the asset and digital records management specialist within LHT’s Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem. This creates a continuous digital record intended to give traceability across the aircraft lifecycle.

Wizz Air joined the newly launched AVIATAR platform in 2018 and in 2021 the airline became the launch customer for the technical logbook product.

“Digitalisation has been a key pillar of our technical and operational strategy for many years. The electronic Technical Logbook has delivered tangible benefits in terms of efficiency, data quality and operational transparency while supporting our ambition to operate increasingly paperless processes. Extending this partnership again reflects the value the solution creates for our teams every day and our confidence in continuing this successful collaboration,” said Diogo Reu, Wizz Air’s head of engineering and maintenance.

Stefan Loh, corporate key account manager sales at LHT, said:  “Five years ago, Wizz Air placed its trust in us as the launch customer for AVIATAR’s Technical Logbook and helped shape a solution delivering measurable operational benefits at scale.”

Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed.
