FL Technics Indonesia has opened a new aircraft painting facility at its Denpasar, Bali base, marking an expansion of its MRO capabilities as demand for regional maintenance services continues to grow.
The new facility has already completed its first project, repainting the third Boeing 737-400F freighter for Philippine cargo carrier Skyway Airlines. Following completion, the aircraft was ferried to Clark International Airport in the Philippines for its inaugural ceremony.
Martynas Grigas, chairman of FL Technics Indonesia, said: “The addition of a dedicated painting booth in Bali is part of our commitment to building a truly full-service MRO capability in the region.
“We are pleased to welcome our valued customers, Skyway Airlines, as the first to utilise this facility. Several more painting projects have been secured over the next couple of months, and we also received significant further demand as more operators across Southeast Asia are looking for this capability.”
The new paint facility complements FL Technics Indonesia’s existing MRO operations across its dual-station network in Jakarta and Bali. The company holds more than 20 civil aviation authority approvals across the two sites and employs more than 700 aviation specialists.
Designed to support complex livery projects, the Bali paint booth is intended to provide operators across Indonesia and Southeast Asia with a regional alternative to overseas repainting programmes, helping reduce ferry flight requirements and associated aircraft downtime.
Its launch comes as airlines increasingly look to extend aircraft lifecycles amid continuing delivery delays. Repainting capability is also supporting fleet rebranding, wet-lease transitions and return-to-service programmes, while providing cargo operators with maintenance options closer to their operating bases.
