Lufthansa Technik has acquired a majority stake in ETP Thermal Dynamics, a US-based company, as part of its strategy to expand its aircraft component services portfolio in the Americas.
Lufthansa Technik says this acquisition will enable it to increase its heat exchanger capacity and strengthen its supply chain within its network.
Through its US subsidiary, Lufthansa Technik North America Holding Corp., the company has acquired 80% of ETP Thermal Dynamics from Campbell Holdings Group, LLC.
Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ETP Thermal Dynamics specialises in MRO services for heat exchangers, oil, and fuel coolers. The company also has expertise in manufacturing its own cores for heat exchangers.
Lufthansa Technik says this move not only boosts its repair capabilities and access to aircraft heat exchanger components but also expands its presence in the Americas.
Kenny Walling, currently director of production and engineering at Lufthansa Technik Component Services, will take on the additional role of chief executive at ETP Thermal Dynamics.
Rick Campbell, the former chief executive and part-owner of ETP, will remain with the company as chief technical officer, focusing on expanding core production and third-party business.
The close proximity of ETP’s facilities to Lufthansa Technik Component Services in Tulsa will facilitate smooth integration and post-acquisition activities.
