MRO Europe 2025: Ontic to open new UK MRO facility as part of $30m global investment
Global aerospace OEM Ontic has announced plans to open a new MRO facility in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, UK, designed to enhance aftermarket support for airlines and operators with faster turnaround times, greater transparency and OEM-standard repairs.
The 64,000 sq ft purpose-built site, opening in phases from January 2026 and fully operational by Q4 2026, will consolidate 200 MRO specialists – including engineers, technicians, customer service, supply chain and logistics experts – under one roof.
Ontic said the facility has been designed for future growth as the company expands its MRO capabilities.
The new hub will feature pneumatic and hydraulic infrastructure, an avionics workshop with ISO7 clean room, non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities, a machine shop and a dark room, along with significant additional space for expansion as new product licences are secured.
“As the licence holder for thousands of product lines, Ontic holds the proprietary data, tooling and test equipment required to repair components to OEM standards,” the company said in its announcement. “The result is longer-lasting repairs, each backed by a warranty, delivered at the speed and reliability operators expect.”
Brian Sartain, chief operating officer at Ontic, said: “The opening of our Tewkesbury MRO facility marks a step-change in how we support our customers. By consolidating all our UK aftermarket expertise in one dedicated site, we are investing in the people, capability, and infrastructure to consistently deliver a faster, more responsive and more transparent service.
“Alongside our new Miramar facility in the US, this is a significant milestone in our commitment to keeping established fleets flying safely for decades to come.”
Dave Mayne, MRO director Europe at Ontic, said: “This is exactly what our customers have been asking for – an OEM repair, consistently delivered within the required turnaround time, and backed by an OEM warranty.
“With the scale of investment Ontic is making in MRO, this new facility ensures we can deliver on that promise.”
The Tewkesbury development forms part of Ontic’s $30 million global investment in MRO infrastructure, expanding capacity and capability across the UK and US.
The UK site is in the process of securing CAA, EASA, FAA and CAAC approvals, while Ontic’s Miramar, Florida facility has recently achieved FAA certification, strengthening the OEM’s international aftermarket footprint.
