Etihad Engineering has launched Abu Dhabi’s first MRO-led GCAA CAR-147 Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Programme, creating a new pathway for aspiring aircraft maintenance professionals in the UAE capital.
Delivered by Etihad Engineering Technical Training at the company’s MRO facility adjacent to Zayed International Airport, the programme combines regulatory-approved classroom instruction with practical skills development and hands-on experience in a live maintenance environment.
Led by licensed aircraft maintenance instructors, the programme provides trainees with a structured pathway towards aircraft maintenance certification and future certifying responsibilities.
Daniel Hoffmann, chief executive of Etihad Engineering, said: “As global demand for aircraft maintenance expertise continues to grow, the industry needs a strong pipeline of skilled professionals.
“Our CAR-147 aircraft maintenance engineering programme combines approved technical training with the real-world experience of one of the world's leading independent MRO providers.”
The programme has welcomed its first intake of Emirati trainees, with future intakes set to open to aspiring maintenance professionals from across the region and internationally.
The initiative builds on Etihad Engineering’s existing technical training capabilities, which deliver more than 600 courses to over 12,000 participants annually.
Supported by a workforce of more than 2,000 professionals representing over 50 nationalities, the programme aims to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a centre for aviation skills development while helping address growing global demand for qualified aircraft maintenance personnel.
