Embraer has completed the acquisition of the remaining stake in its cabin interiors joint venture with Safran Cabin, taking full ownership of the business and expanding its manufacturing operations in Brazil.
The deal includes the purchase of the remaining 50% share in Mexico-based EZ Air Interior Limited, a joint venture established in 2012 between Embraer and C&D, now part of Safran Cabin.
Based in Chihuahua, the company has exclusively supported Embraer aircraft programmes, manufacturing cabin interior components including overhead luggage bins, galleys, lavatories and floor panels for the E-Jets family.
As part of the agreement, Embraer has also integrated part of Safran Cabin’s operations in JacareĆ, Brazil, which are dedicated to Embraer programmes. Safran will retain engineering services activities in Brazil that are unrelated to Embraer.
Francisco Gomes Neto, president and chief executive of Embraer, said: “Embraer is continuously evaluating opportunities to create value for its stakeholders, and this agreement supports our strategy to expand operations in both the short and long term.
“I would like to thank Safran Cabin for this successful long-term partnership and warmly welcome the new colleagues joining Embraer. Together, we will continue to deliver excellence driven by safety, quality, efficiency and sustainability.”
The transaction was completed following regulatory approval and the fulfilment of customary closing conditions.
