Etihad selects 10 employees for fully funded cadet pilot programme
Etihad Airways has awarded 10 employees with fully paid scholarship places on its newly established two-year Employee Cadet Pilot programme.
The airline’s decision to provide the scholarships comes as a response to an increasing demand for skilled pilots in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as the region’s aviation industry continues to grow.
From the 10 candidates chosen for the scholarship, seven are female. Some of the chosen candidates include current cabin crew and flight dispatch personnel.
Dr Nadia Bastaki, chief people and corporate affairs officer at Etihad, said: “The Employee Cadet Pilot Programme plays a pivotal role in ensuring the next generation is equipped with the world-class skills and expertise needed to excel in the ever-evolving aviation industry.”
The programme will take place across both the UAE and Spain and will combine in-classroom learning with full flight simulation sessions, as well as give trainees opportunities to make lateral career changes within the company.
With the launch of the new programme, Etihad can ensure it trains potential future employees in alignment with its operational and safety standards.
“The programme sets the standard for pilot training, blending comprehensive theoretical education with practical flying experience. By using the latest aircraft models and technologies, we ensure our cadets are well-prepared for the demands of modern aviation,” said Captain Fahad Alseiari, head of Etihad cadet pilot programme.
