Jamco Corporation, manufacturer of cabin interior equipment and a Bain Capital portfolio company, is expanding its footprint in the aircraft interiors market through the acquisition of Aerospace Technologies Group (ATG).

Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, ATG has become the largest tier 1 supplier of electric window shade systems to aircraft OEMs worldwide. Its flagship aerBlade® system allows passengers and crew to control window shades at the touch of a button, removing the need for manual cabin checks during take-off and landing.

ATG, which generates over $60 million in annual revenue, supplies its window shades as standard options on Bombardier, Gulfstream and Textron Aviation’s Cessna business jets. It has also received Bombardier’s Diamond Supplier award in consecutive years, 2022 and 2023.

Both ATG and Jamco Corporation will continue to operate independently under a common ownership structure led by Kate Schaefer, executive chair of Jamco Corporation and now also executive chair of ATG.

Schaefer commented: “ATG is the first step in realising our vision to transform Jamco Corporation into the leading global platform for cabin interiors. The combination of ATG’s aerBlade product and Jamco Corporation’s business class seat offering, together with Jamco Corporation’s cabin modification and engineering certification capabilities, creates strong industrial logic for this combination.”

ATG’s chief executive officer Mario Ceste paid tribute to the company’s long-standing ownership before welcoming the acquisition. “ATG has been supported by Jacqueline Autry’s ownership for many years, and on behalf of all ATG employees we are deeply grateful. At the same time, we are excited for ATG’s new chapter of growth under Bain Capital’s ownership and see many new opportunities from partnership with Jamco Corporation,” he said.

Nick Gattas, managing director in Bain Capital’s Asia private equity team, added: “We are excited to partner with Mario and the ATG team for the next chapter of growth, and continuing ATG’s strong entrepreneurial culture focused on product innovation and customer support.”

The move marks Bain Capital’s first step towards building a more comprehensive global platform for cabin interiors, combining Jamco Corporation’s expertise in premium seating and cabin modifications with ATG’s specialised window shade systems.
